This excursion is perfect for those who want to experience the charm and learn about the fascinating twists and decisive moments in the history of the legendary Red October confectionery.
Your journey begins with information from a professional guide on the bus, followed by a walking tour starting from the Cathedral of Christ the Savior. Along the Patriarchal Bridge, you will enjoy breathtaking views of Moscow and have plenty of time for memorable photos.
Next, you will stroll along the Bersenevskaya and Bolotnaya Embankments, see the Hydroelectric Power Station No. 2, explore Melanshen (and discover what it is), and make a wish at a special location.
The highlight of this specially designed route is the visit to the Red October branch (note: no chocolate is produced here) and the Rosa Einem Museum. At the museum, you will learn about the history of chocolate, watch a short film, and discover the life story of Ferdinand Theodor Einem, the owner of the Red October factory, affectionately called Fyodor Ivanovich by his employees. You will also learn about the rivalry with another famous factory, Babaevsky, and its owner, Abrikosov.
The museum contains numerous hidden “Easter eggs” referencing photography, marketing, literature (Bernard Shaw), labor systems, peacocks, and even Shambhala. You will also discover how chocolate packaging evolved, the different chocolate types of the past, how chocolate could even be “singing,” and many other important events in Russian history connected to chocolate.
